DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Officials roped off the RTA hub on South Jefferson Street in Dayton after a man was stabbed late Tuesday night.

We're told two men may have been arguing some time after 11 p.m.

When the situation escalated, police said one of the men stabbed the other in the chest, then the suspect ran from the scene.

Police said the victim, a man in his mid 20's, was able to walk into the hub. Someone there called 911, and medics rushed the man to Miami Valley Hospital.

At last check, he was in critical condition.

Homicide detectives were also brought in to investigate.

We talked to Lieutenant Wendy Stiver, who said "Downtown is very safe. Incidents like this happen rarely, and when they happen it's usually between people who know each other-- who have some kind of personal argument or dispute."

Detectives gathered information from witnesses and looked at surveillance video from the RTA hub.

Lt. Stiver said the suspect was a black male wearing a skull cap and dark clothing-- she also said he walks with a a distinctive limp.

If you have any information on what happened, call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867.
