DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton police were called to the 600 block of Mt. Crest Court in Dayton early Friday morning after someone called 911 to report a shooting.

When they arrived just after midnight, they found a 27-year-old man who had been shot in the back.

Officials said the victim was arguing with someone, and evidence suggested it could have been a robbery.

The victim forced his way into someone else's home after he was wounded, and those people called for help.

He was then rushed to Miami Valley Hospital.

Dayton Lieutenant Donald Barden said the victim doesn't live in the area where he was shot.

He also told us they don't have an active suspect but they did have nicknames of people who may have been involved.

At last check, the victim was in serious condition, but officials said they expect him to recover.
