RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) - An overnight crash left 2,000 homes in Riverside without power early Fri. morning.
Just before midnight Thurs. a driver lost control of his SUV on Spinning Rd. near Harlou Dr. and crashed into a utility pole.
Firefighters arrived to find the downed pole across the SUV with the driver barely conscious inside.
Crews quickly realized they were dealing with high voltage wires.
DP&L crews came out to turn off the power, which allowed firefighters to get to the victim.
They pried open the driver's side door and removed the victim. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where we're told he's in stable condition.
As of 5 a.m., DP&L had reduced the number of outages to 47.
Spinning Rd. was still closed between Eastman and Shellar Ave.
