MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) - People across the Miami Valley hit the stores Sunday night to finish up their holiday shopping.
Stores like Toys 'R Us in Miamisburg were helping in the holiday rush-- staying open around the clock over the weekend, and Christmas Eve.
According to one survey, 17 million shoppers planned to cut it close by hitting stores Monday.
Last week, 132 million Americans still had shopping left to do. In fact, 26 million hadn't even started.
We talked to one father, son duo overnight, and they tell us said while they love people, they aren't necessarily in the mood for mingling when there's shopping to be done.
"I hate lines. I hate to wait. If I want to see something, and I have to fight somebody over it-- I'm going to win. But regardless I hate having to fight somebody, especially an old lady or a little kid over an item," said Ben Bledsoe.
Even though a recent poll showed that 17 percent were planning to spend less this year retail analysts said sales this holiday season are on track to top 586 billion dollars.
It's the most optimistic forecast since the recession.
