BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - Fire crews were called to a motel in Butler Township on reports of a blaze early Thursday morning.

They arrived at 3663 Maxton Road off Miller Lane just after 3:00 a.m., at what used to be the Knights Inn Hotel.

Firefighters found flames inside two different units, and crews from seven different areas were called in to help battle the blaze.

Butler Township Asst. Fire Chief Steve Stein told us the building has been vacant for at least a year, but it did still have power and electric.

DP&L and Vectren came to shut off electric and power so firefighters could finish their work.

At this point, no word on a cause.

The State Fire Marshal was coming to he scene to investigate.
