VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) - After just five years in Northwoods Business Park, FedEx Ground has announced plans to expand the existing Vandalia operation.

The company is expected to begin construction soon of a 46,000 sq ft expansion, which will allow the company to expand its reach in the Dayton region. Currently the company operates in a 119,000 sq ft distribution center that opened its doors in August of 2006.

In 2005, the company announced plans to consolidate two Huber Heights facilities and move the operation to the Northwoods Business Park. The company chose Vandalia as the site for the distribution center because of its proximity to the airport and to the junction of I-70 and I-75.

The project is expected to be complete by August of 2012.
