Apple fans camp out for phone release

MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - Anxious buyers waited outside AT&T early Friday morning for the release of the iPhone5.

The crowd of about seven people tried to stay warm, bundling up with sweatshirts, coats, and blankets.

Some tech observers expect iPhone5 to be number one, and possibly the largest consumer electronics launch ever.

In fact, some analysts forecast worldwide iPhone5 sales of 50 million units by the end of the year.

The debut comes as rival Samsung trumpeted global sales of 20 million units for it's Galaxy S3 Android phone, and the company took out major print ads this week comparing the two devices.

The ads didn't eem to have any effect on local Apple fans.

We talked to Davion Woodard from Dayton, who pre-ordered the iPhone4, but said this time around-- there would be no waiting for a delivery.

"This is about being very anxious to get your hands on your product. If you're like me, you're waiting around, you're just going to be looking at time and time is going to go so slow. There's no point in waiting around when you can get it at the store," said Woodard.

A few things everyone was anticipating-- a larger screen, a lighter weight, and a faster processor.
