Pair accused of binding girl with tape

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - A Kettering couple is accused of binding a 3 year-old girl with duct tape and recording the April 17, 2011 incident with a cell phone.

The girl's mother, Sherry Allender, 22, and her boyfriend, Charles Jones Junior, 26, were arrested at their Kettering apartment Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier in the day warrants were issued for the couple on abduction and child endangering charges.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said they used Duct tape to cover the mouth and bind the arms and legs of Allender's daughter.

Heck said the couple also used a cell phone camera to record the incident.

"The tape shows that this girl is visibly scared and upset," said Heck. "At one point the boyfriend of the mother rips off the duct tape from her mouth, resulting in the little girl screaming and crying. You hear both defendants laughing, poking fun at the little girl".

Heck said the video was discovered after Allender sold her cell phone to the vicitm's biological father. He found the recording in May and called deputies.

Both Allender and Jones Junior are charged with abduction and endangering children.

Officials said the 3 year-old victim is with her paternal grandmother. Another 1 year-old child, a sibling, is in the custody of Montgomery County Children's Services.
