DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Several Dayton-area gang members got an unexpected visit from police Thursday morning during a warrant round-up.

"A lot these guys have guns and a history of violence," said Dayton Police Lt. Brian Johns. "That's why we take the precautions that we do."

Officers from Dayton, Trotwood, and Montgomery County, as well as members from the U.S. Marshals SO-FAST Task Force and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force all teamed up to target the wanted gang members.

The officers worked in two groups and hit homes around the Dayton region.

Lt. Johns said there are about nine hundred known gang members in Montgomery County. On Thursday, officers were looking for members of a specific group.

"Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of them yet, but we are still going to try," said Johns.
