Day 4 of China Arnold trial

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - For the fourth day in a row, China Arnold sat in a Montgomery County courtroom and listened to Q and A with witnesses that prosecutors hoped would prove she killed her 28 day-old daughter, Paris Talley.

Arnold is accused of burning the baby in a microwave back in 2005.

On Friday, Paris' father, Terrell Talley, took the stand.

He asked not to be shown on camera, but told the jury China has admitted to the crimes.

"Was there a time the defendant told you that she killed the baby," questioned Montgomery County Prosecutors David Franceschelli. "Yes," Talley responded.

Talley said the night Paris died, he and China argued about infidelity in their relationship.

He said he left their Parkside apartment and when he returned home the next morning, he found China asleep and Paris cold and unresponsive.

That's when Talley said they took the baby to Dayton Children's. Earlier this week a trauma room nurse testified that it was there, she heard China saying she killed her baby.

However, during cross-examination on Friday, Terrell admitted the words were taken out of context.

"So the statement, "I killed my baby," was a statement of a mom sort of feeling like she should have been watching over?" questioned Jon Paul Rion, Arnold's attorney. "Correct," answered Talley.

Jurors were dismissed for the weekend and allowed to go home.

The trial will resume Monday morning at 8:30. Stay with 2 NEWS both on air and online for updates.
