W. Carrollton residents need more speed

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A fight to change the speed limit in West Carrollton ended with a compromise Tuesday night.

The speed limit was recently changed from 35 to 25 miles per hour through the city's downtown.

The change came after street parking was added and plans for further development were discussed.

Citizens voiced concerns at the council meeting that the lower speed limit was just a way for the city to make more money from speed cameras.

The council listened and agreed to up the limit to 30 mph.

"Basically, with the on street parking, and other factors, 35 is not a safe speed, so we kind of don't want to go back to that and 25 is a bit too slow, so in between you have thirty," said Rich Norton, Service Director, West Carrollton.

The process to change the speed limit to 30 miles per hour is expected to take about 2 months.
