Locals hold vigil for massacre victims

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - 27 candles, representing the 20 children and 7 adults killed, in Friday's school shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.

"My heart just melted.  I just said no, not another school," comments Joe Kenney.

Marshall Road Church of God in Kettering was the site of a candlelight vigil for the victims Friday night.

"I have a 3-year-old in my life that I just love and adore and I couldn't even imagine kindergartners in a classroom with this kind of horror.  I mean it's really unimaginable," explains Tina Rogal.

With heavy hearts, mourners prayed to try to help heal.

"This could happen anywhere, this could be in our own communities and, in times like this, I believe the body of Christ needs to gather together," says pastor Rick Smith.

A light to remember each life, taken too soon

"Those little kindergartners are in heaven and they're fine.  But, it's the families, the parents, the grandparents, the brothers and sisters.  My heart just breaks," comments Angie Aldridge.

As communities across the nation come together in the face of tragedy.

The Greater Dayton Christian Connections and Summit Christian Church will hold a prayer vigil for the victims of the school shooting massacre, this Sunday at 3 P.M.
