DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton fire crews battled a fire Tuesday night at a vacant apartment building where neighbors say trespassing is a common problem.

Crews were called to the 200 block of Basswood Avenue near Riverside Drive around 9:30 p.m.  A nearby resident told 2 News he's caught people illegally dumping their trash at the building on Basswood.

The back of the building was engulfed when crews arrived. They quickly got the flames knocked down.

Fire officials said the flames appear to have started in the building's attic. The cause remained under investigation.
