DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Traffic concerns have caused the University of Dayton to offering new students the opportunity to drop off their belongings before orientation begins.
Brown Street has been reduced to one lane in each direction, and no parking is allowed on Brown Street. To help reduce the traffic congestion, the university will hold early move-in days August 11-13. Move-in day is August 18.
The $4.4 million construction project will include paving Brown from Caldwell Street to Irving Avenue, as well as new curbs, sidewalks, lighting and bike lanes. Work should be done by November.
For anyone wanting to avoid the area, Karrie Rossmiller advises using Main Street to get around the construction.
Additional Information for U.S. students and parents:
Students can register for a one hour time slot before move-in day. On August 18, students will be able to bring any additional items, pick up their FlyerCard, attend important orientation sessions and get to know their floormates. Early Drop-off one hour timeslots are available on August 11, 12 and 13 beginning at 10 a.m. and the last time slot being from 4-5 p.m. Early Drop-off times must be prearranged through this website, http://reslife.udayton.edu/earlydropoff/ and are strictly limited to one hour.
