DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A regional task force arrested three suspects as part of an investigation into what officials described as a large scale marijuana trafficking organization operating between Indianapolis, Ind. and Dayton, Ohio.
Regional Agencies Narcotics & Gun Enforcement (R.A.N.G.E.) detectives said on July 31, 2012, they intercepted a load of marijuana being transported form Indianapolis to an Englewood, Ohio hotel. A vehicle was stopped on Interstate 75 and another on Interstate 70. One was carrying more than 60 pounds of marijuana. The other had approximately 110 pounds.
Gregory Horne Jr., Lamont Richardson, and David Cohorn were arrested and charged with trafficking in drugs, tampering with evidence, and possession of drugs. All three are being held in the Montgomery County Jail.
Detectives also raided homes at 29 Fairgrounds Rd., Dayton, 917 Xenia Ave., Dayton, 3006 Telhurst Dr. Moraine, and 1105 Arrowhead Crossings in West Carrollton.
One neighbor in West Carrollton, Brittany Saylers, watched as agents seized drugs, weapons, and cash.
"I'm really glad that this is all taken care of quickly because drugs on these streets isn't something that usually happens over here," Saylers said. "Its definitely a shock, but its a good thing they got here quick and got it handled."
In addition to the marijuana, R.A.N.G.E. detectives seized a quantity of cocaine, four guns, three vehicles, and approximately $206,000 in cash.
Detectives said more arrests could follow as their investigation continues.
