HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) - Many escaped Saturday's heat by making a splash at the Kroger Aquatic Center at The Heights.

Huber Heights City Manager James Borland held a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday to mark the official opening of the facility.

The center features two water slides, a lazy river, splash pad, and kids' zero-entry pool.

The Kroger Aquatic Center is the cornerstone for the city's new residential, retail, and recreational development at S.R. 201 and I-70 called The Heights. The Heights project is an 800 acre development that will stretch from the northwest corner of S.R. 201 and I-70 up into southern Miami County. Upon completion, it will include more than 2,000 homes in the Carriage Trails residential community, the 35 acre Kroger Aquatic Center and recreational complex, and a 140 acre retail and entertainment component.
