DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton SWAT team surrounded a home on Farnham Drive Saturday afternoon after a man accused of firing shots in the neighborhood ran from police.

Officers said they tried to arrest the suspect after he fired a gun on Samuel Street. Before police could handcuff him, officials said the man led officers on a short pursuit down Smithville Road, crashed his car a few blocks away, then took off again, slamming his car in a nearby home a few minutes later. The suspect then got out of the car and ran into the house.

Officers were then forced to treat the incident as a hostage situation.

The suspect faces a long list of charges.
