DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Students at The Pathway School of Discovery in Dayton now know what a little hard work can do.
We visited eighth graders March 5 as they packed up boxes to send to troops in Afghanistan.
A father of one of those troops sent them some photos of the recipients of those care packages.
Major Greg Schrein is among the team in southern Afghanistan who received some of the sixty boxes the students sent.
Schrein is a graduate of Alter High School and The University of Dayton.
His unit is the 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division.
His father says his son raved about all the goodies inside, including food, toothpaste, deodorant and shampoo.
The students spent a month gathering the supplies as part of the school's Pathway Cares Project.
