According to an e-mail sent by the university, a student was approached by three black males in an alley in the 1600 block of Brown Street around 3:40 a.m. Sunday.

The student said the suspects displayed a knife and demanded money from him. During the confrontation, the suspects were scared off and ran from the scene.

The student was not physically assaulted or injured and no items were taken.

The suspects are described as black males, in their 20s, all wearing jeans and dark-colored shirts.

University of Dayton Police said they searched the area after the incident occurred, but have not located any suspects.

The Department of Public Safety is continuing to investigate.
