Strong winds knock down wall of apartment

Loud wake up call from falling bricks

SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) -

Winds gusted to 44 miles per hour in Dayton and 60 in Wilmington Monday night and early Thursday morning.  Those winds were strong enough to collapse a wall at a sugar creek township apartment building.

Caution tape surrounding what's left of this wall is still whipping in the wind.  Residents from the Bay Berry Cove apartment complex in Sugarcreek Township heard a loud noise and noticed the wall of one building fall.
Bricks litter the ground from what's left of the wall.  One resident says he was on his way to work early this morning when he heard a loud crashing.

Kenny Bass of Sugarcreek Township says, "It sounded like  train going by but it was a real loud thrashing hard sound I thought it was geese hitting the wall. We have so many geese around here that's what it sounded like was a train."

Resident Kenny Bass also mentioned the apartment complex had some damage a few years ago from an ice storm and some windows had to be replaced.  There's no word on how long it will take to repair the building.
