Snow falls, cars crash, time to dig out

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - It was an early morning assault on the roadways by speeding trucks and careless cars.

With a crusty mess covering the roadways, motorists were left with only ruts to guide them.

Because of the hazardous conditions, numerous slide-offs accidents were reported, including a twisted semi near northbound 75 at SR 725.

In Englewood, early morning road crews from Clayton tried to keep up with the relentless snowfall, albeit as beautiful and picturesque as it is.

It's profitable as well, as snow plower Tyler Lamb piles up some cash when snow piles up.

By daybreak, it was time for those commuters who had to go to work, to venture out onto the snow covered roads.

But not everyone was leaving home. As many as 375 area schools and businesses delayed opening or closed-up shop for the day as some areas, such as Shelby and Logan counties up to 10 inches of snow.

Looking ahead, the area will see improving conditions today with any additional accumulation on the light side.  Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy and cold, with a low of 24 degrees.

Thursday will usher in some sun, and warmer temperatures before a weekend forecast that could reach the 50s.
