DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Six Dayton police officers have new titles on their badges.  They were promoted Wednesday morning.

David Wolford is now a major, Joseph Wiesman is now a lieutenant and Jon Zimmerman, Jason Hall, Andrew Gillig and Christopher Malson are all now sergeants.

Dayton's city manager had some words of advice.

"You all know that you have to make decision in a short period of time and that everyone can second guess those decisions, but your staff will look to you for guidance and help to do that," said Tim Riordan, Dayton City Manager.

The promotions took place at the Dayton City Commission meeting.
