Sinclair receives $12-million grant

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A record amount of money is coming to Sinclair Community College.

It just received the largest grant ever, a whopping $12-million.

The money will be used to change the way students are trained for a career in information technology and giving more attention to each student's specific needs.

"This is yet another reason why we are proud of Sinclair Community College. Every time we come here, there's a new way that we find relevance here at Sinclair, helping people improve their workforce skills," said Dan Foley, Montgomery County Commissioner.

Sinclair leaders say this will lead to a 20-percent increase in employment rates.

The college will take one year to develop the curriculum for the new program and will test it for a year.

The goal is to become operational by 2015.
