DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Local college athletes paid tribute to veterans Monday with a basketball game.

It was Military Appreciation Day at Sinclair Community College and what better day than Veteran's Day to honor our troops.

The men's and women's basketball teams played a double header against The Ohio State University at Lima.

The United States Air Force held a special swearing in ceremony for new recruits at half-time of the men's game.

"Just want to thank the Dayton community as always for being so supportive of us. It's wonderful to live in a community like the Miami Valley and work here with such great supportive folks," said Commander Cassie Barlow, 88th Air Base, WPAFB.

The 30 recruits will be headed to basic training by next summer.

All past and present military members received free admission to the games.
