DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - An attempted overnight traffic stop shortly after midnight ends in a fiery crash in Dayton.

The crash happened on Broadway Street after Ohio State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a speeding vehicle traveling north bound on I-75.

Behind the wheel, was 19-year-old Jamal Whatley, of Dayton.

The truck, driver by Whatley, got off the highway at Dryden Road. Troopers noticed the vehicle had no license plate, as speeds hit 80 to 100 miles per hour during the short pursuit.

The vehicle ran a red light at Nicholas Road traveling onto Broadway.

After roughly 30 seconds, the vehicle left the roadway, hitting a concrete pad and went airborne crashing into a small building.

The vehicle caught fire, as the pursuing trooper pulled Whatley from the car and placed him under arrest.

Whatley was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and is expected to be alright, he is currently booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
