DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The photo is hard to look at, but police need your help to find the person who abandoned a dog.
Alexander the Great, as he's now called, was found locked in the basement of a home on Guard Avenue in Dayton on Saturday. He had no food or water.
The Humane Society of Greater Dayton believes he was there for a few weeks.
"He has a chance now. Saturday, before we responded, he had no chance. Now, he has a chance," said Sheila Marquis, Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
Officials hope Alexander's owners come forward, but he won't go home with them.
Once Alexander is strong enough to leave the Humane Society, he will be given to a new family.
