KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - Kettering Police are investigating a violent road rage incident.

The altercation came to a climax at the stop light on Kettering Boulevard at Dorothy Lane around 5:30 pm.

Police say the driver of a car pulled up to the stoplight, got out and walked back to confront the driver of a pickup truck behind him.  He had a pipe in his hand.

The pickup driver got out of his vehicle at that point.  The men began to argue and the car's driver started beating the other man with the pipe.

Police say an eyewitness stopped and tried to stop the assault.  That is when the man with the pipe got back into his car and took off.  But, not before running over the good samaritan's foot and dropping him to the ground.

The assault victim was taken to Kettering Medical Center for treatment of cuts and bruises.

The good samaritan refused treatment at the scene.

Police caught up to the suspect at his home.  He was treated at the hospital for an eye injury.

Police have yet to make any arrests, but the investigation continues.

If you have any information about this incident, call Kettering Police at 296-2555.
