DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A woman is staying elsewhere after fire breaks out in her home and firefighters have to break down her door to fight the flames.

Neighbors alerted officials they saw smoke coming from a home in the 500 block of Kester Avenue just before 1 p.m. Saturday.

According to officials, a lamp inside the home caught fire. The blaze spread to some clothing near the lighting fixture and caused smoke damage in the house.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire.

The homeowner was not home at the time the fire broke out. The Red Cross is providing her with a place to stay until the door is fixed.

No word on the cost of the damage.
