Dayton and Montgomery County's Public Health department is extending a special warning to air show fans.
It is stressing that people attending this weekend's Vectren Air Show and other outdoor events take extra precautions against the heat.
The entire area is under a Public Health Heat Warning as temperatures continue to soar.
"With such extreme heat and humidity, it is critical that everyone is aware of those around them that do not look or feel well and quickly offer whatever assistance is needed to get them medical attention. It really is important to get involved and help each other," said Jim Gross, Montgomery County Health Commissioner.
The health department offers these tips to keep you safe this weekend:
• Stay hydrated - attendees are allowed to bring in bottled water, however no
coolers are allowed. Drinking fountains will also be available.
• Wear appropriate light-colored clothing.
• Get out of the direct sun and into a cooler area whenever possible.
• Take advantage of available resources. Cooled medical tents will be available
for distressed individuals. Multiple roaming Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
patrols will be out among the crowd looking for distressed individuals or to address
any medical concerns.
Symptoms of heat-related illness to watch for include muscle cramps, fatigue, nausea, headaches, excessive thirst, weakness, confusion, dizziness, heart problems, breathing problems, excessive sweating, or hot flushed.
