DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A suspect is in custody after attempting to rob two UD students.

University of Dayton Police arrested 18-year-old Devin Ghant around 1:55 a.m. Sunday near Wayne Avenue and Lathrop Street.

Ghant is accused of attempting to rob two female students in the area of 56 Woodland Avenue an hour earlier.

The students stated they were approached by a suspect who showed a handgun and demanded money from them. One of the students screamed, which alarmed the suspect and he ran away. The students were not harmed and no items were taken.

Ghant is being held in the Montgomery County Jail. He faces charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated menacing, and carrying a concealed weapon.

University officials stated another incident occurred about an hour after Ghant was arrested.

A male student was approached near the intersection of Woodland and Alberta Streets around 3:15 a.m. Sunday.

The suspect said he had a knife, but didn't display a weapon and demanded money from the student. The student gave the suspect money, and the suspect fled.

The student was not injured.

The suspect in the second incident is described as a tall black male, 20-30 years old, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and baggy jeans.

If you have any information, you're asked to call campus police at 229-2121.
