Pill mills bigger problem than thought

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Montgomery County experts came together Friday to find a better way to battle Ohio's epidemic of prescription drug abuse.

Just a few months ago, investigators raided what they believed to be the pill mill operation of Doctor Han Yang, 69.

They say operations such as that lead to abuse.

Prescription drug overdoses are the leading cause of accidental death in Ohio, killing more people than car crashes.

The problem isn't just for adults.

"Juvenile's becoming addicted to something like opiates is something new for our courts, but it's an emerging trend and its something that we want to tackle early," said Shannon Jones, Montgomery County Juvenile Court.

Officials say teens may not realize the additive potential of prescription drugs, so they are especially vulnerable.
