DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Political signs are sprouting in yards across the Miami Valley, but one local business man in Dayton wants you to ditch the party affiliation and opt for this sign, simply supporting America.

Sandy Mendelson, owner of Mendelson's Liquidation in downtown Dayton has seen a side of politics he doesn't care for.

"After watching the Democrat and Republican conventions, I figured out one thing, all of us are Americans," said Sandy Mendelson, Mendelson's Liquidation.

During the conventions, he sensed a political divisiveness that he says can have an adverse affect on all Americans.

"We've got a great country and everybody wants to come to our country and if they hear us keep talking this way it's going to demean it."

He's not ready to wave the white flag just yet. He'd rather everyone show-off the American Flag.

"I figured to give them to people free, so they can put them in their front yard to say we're proud to be Americans."

He's also proud to point out where they were made.

"I just want people to realize if we stick together, the D's and the R's we can help the P's, the people."

Customers agree. "If they've traveled the world like I have it's really great to come back to the United States," said Bobby Burns, customer. "Look at the unrest in the Middle East now. I'd hate to walk out on the streets of America and face the violence that the people over there are facing right now."

So until the elections, Mendelson will be showing his patriotism one patron at a time.

"I'm not saying who's right or who's wrong, but if we all get together and work together as a country we will succeed."

If you'd like to show your patriotism, just stop by Mendelson's next to Fifth-Third Field and pick up your free yard sign.
