Ohio senators back Delphi retirees

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Ohio senators urge the Obama Administration to help Delphi workers left without full pensions after the General Motors bailout.

Retired salaried Delphi workers are suing to have their full pensions restored.  They were cut by up to 70-percent when GM went bankrupt in 2009.

Senator Sherrod Brown says the retirees need some answers.  He already signed a letter with Senator Rob Portman to Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew.

"I'm on this.  Even though economic growth is better, I want to make sure the auto workers are treated," said Senator Brown.

Attorneys for the federally backed pension insurer declined to enter mediation with the retirees back in October 2012.

Congressman Mike Turner is also involved in a letter writing campaign to force the mediation to happen.
