DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The snow snuck up on some people Wednesday evening in Fairborn.
"We were just walking to the church to get some clothes and it wasn't this bad and we come outside and it's like woah," says Beth Ryan.
Ryan and her friend Christopher Goldshot were picking up some warm clothes to try to combat the cold.
"It's cold and we're also running out of either warm and/or clean clothes because it's just been too cold to either hang out the clothes on the line or wash them in the tub and hang them out on the balcony. It's just too cold to even walk down to the laundry mat," explains Goldshot.
Meanwhile, the Ohio Department of Transportation has 16 trucks on the roads in Montgomery County.
"We saw that there was snow in the forecast. We took crews off their normal operation around 2 o'clock in anticipation of the snow. Loaded trucks up with salt and the agriculture mix and we've been at it since 2 o'clock," comments ODOT Transportation Manager Kyle Reindel.
And if you are heading out, ODOT has some advice.
"Stay back. Give yourself some more time going to work and leave room for our plow trucks and make sure you give enough room between you and the vehicle in front of you," says Reindel.
ODOT crews will be out treating the roads through rush hour Thursday morning.
