VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) - As the Vectren Dayton Air Show heads to town the weekend of July 6, residents and patrons are advised to take note of traffic changes and suggestions.
On Friday, July 6, National Road will be closed to through traffic beginning at 6:50 p.m. as a result of the Vandalia-Butler Chamber of Commerce Air Show Parade. Staging for the parade begins at 3 p.m., so expect traffic back ups.
On Saturday and Sunday, July 7 and 8, air show patrons using Interstate 75 are advised to use exit 64, Northwoods Boulevard, where they will be routed onto Dixie Dr. for parking. Parking pass holders will turn north to enter McCauley Drive; general admission traffic will be routed both north and south to enter general admission gates.
Patrons using Interstate 70 are to use exit 32, Airport Access Road, traffic will then be routed off the Access Road east onto National Road. General admission vehicles will enter the West National Road gate across from Dellsing Drive. Pass parking will continue to N. Dixie Drive, turn left and proceed north to McCauley Drive. Recreational vehicles, campers and motorcycles will be routed to off N. Dixie Drive near Skyview Drive and Vandalia Fire Station #1 to a specialized parking area. McCauley Drive will be maintained as two-way traffic during show hours, however Wright Drive will accommodate one-way traffic only.
Officials advise motorists to be mindful of the heavier than usual traffic in the Vandalia area this weekend and to use caution in the area. It is also suggested to provide extra time in arriving at destinations.
