DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Oregon District Business Association is asking for more police patrols on weekends and it's willing to helping cover the cost.

The Dayton City Commission approved a new partnership Wednesday evening between the business association and Dayton police.

The Oregon District will pay $11,000 for extra patrols on Friday and Saturday nights.

"I think it says a lot about the business district's interest to make sure they have a safe place, but to make sure it stays a safe place and recognizing that they made sure that they had coverage and crowd control," said Nan Whaley, Dayton City Commissioner.

The extra patrols will continue through the end of 2012.
