MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - Dozens of police officers exchanged their cruisers for shopping carts Tuesday.
They were armed with donated Meijer gift cards for the Shop with a Hero event.
The officers wandered the store on Springboro Pike to purchase toys for children who might otherwise get nothing for the holidays.
"It's always nice. It's always nice to give back to the community. We get to do this once a year where families in need in our community ask us to come out and play Santa Claus for them," said Sgt. Mike Keegan, Moraine Police Department.
Meijer stores will donate tens of thousands of dollars nationwide to make sure every child has a happy holiday this season.
