RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) - A man at the center of a meth lab investigation, spoke Only to 2 News from the back of a police cruiser Saturday morning after a meth lab explosion at the Amhurst Apartment Complex.
Riverside Police said there was an explosion which caused the evacuation of everyone in the apartment building and created a dangerous situation for everyone involved.
"These fumes are very deadly as you note, the personnel that are going inside, both police and fire, are wearing breathing apparatuses. because the fumes, at this point, is what can hurt us," explains Riverside Police Deputy Chief Michael Brown.
But the man argued he didn't know anything about the meth, police said they found.
"Might of been my son's, he's been in and out of there the last couple days and acting crazy I don't have any idea what's going on," he said.
His son was taken to the hospital with burns to his arm.
"Fortunately the explosion was small, and the only person that was injured was the individual who was cooking the meth," comments Deputy Chief Brown.
But his dad says his son's injuries weren't from the meth lab explosion.
"His arm got burnt about two weeks ago in another incident," explains the dad.
Police say they also found drugs other than meth inside the apartment.
They add that both men will likely face manufacturing meth and drug paraphernalia charges.
