Man shot during armed robbery in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton Police say the shooting victim was found lying close to the intersection of East 3rd and Torrence Streets around 3:30 Saturday afternoon.  He was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay.

Police say the victim gave them the names of the two suspects.  One of those suspects is in custody.  Neither of their names are being released at this time.

The shooting happened inside what police say was supposed to be a vacant home in 23-hundred block of East 3rd Street, that is where they found one of the suspects.

They say two suspects, one armed with a handgun, tried to rob the victim and ended up shooting him.

Police believe this is a drug-related  robbery.

"From what the neighbors have told us, is that this is a nuisance-abated drug house and they just keep coming back is what the complaint is.  The house has no power, except for one bedroom upstairs has power and it's obvious that someone was occupying that.  We believe the suspect that we have was living in this home recently," says Sgt. Moises Perez.

So far, no charges have been filed against the suspect who is in custody.  Police say they know who the second suspect is but they are still trying to find him.

If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 222-7867.
