DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton police are looking for a man who opened fire in a Dayton neighborhood.

Police said just after midnight Sunday a man walked into Miami Valley Hospital with a gun shot wound to the chest.

According to a police report, the victim, 40-year-old Jason Marshall, said he drove to Benning Place in the Dosoto Bass neighborhood after his daughter called and said she was involved in a fight with a group of women.

Marshall told police when he got out of his car an unknown suspect fired several rounds.  One bullet struck Marshall in the right side of the chest directly above his nipple.  Hospital staff described the wound as non-life threatening.

Police said witnesses claimed the shooting ultimately stemmed from an argument over a sippy cup.

"It appeared several young women were involved in the fight or disturbance," said Lt. Wendy Stiver with the Dayton police department.

Police described the shooter as a black male, 5'9"- 5' 10" in height, weighing approximately 170 lbs, with gold teeth and wearing a white tank top.

Police believe the shooter knows Marshall or his family.

No arrests have been made.
