Man drives miles to help Dayton woman

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - 67-year-old Roy Kiser has driven more than 50 miles from Rossburg almost everyday for the past three weeks to take down a carriage barn on Mary Street.

"I'm demolishing the garage completely, disassembling it completely and going to make it so that everything is safe. So, they don't have to worry about the power lines or the cables anymore, collapsing on them," says Kiser.

Back in August, owner Sharon Mowry contacted 2 News for help. The city told her the barn had to come down but because it was on private property, she had to take care of it.

"It's an eye sore. It's a danger. It could fall on somebody. It could take down these adjacent buildings," explains Mowry.

Mowry is a single mother of two teenage girls who, like many people, is struggling to make ends meet. So, she couldn't afford the thousands of dollars it would've cost to demolish it. That's why Kiser stepped in.

"He relied on God and God told him to come and help me," comments Mowry.

She says it's proof there is still good in the world.

"I feel blessed. I thank you Channel 2 News. I don't think we would've gotten together, Roy and my girls and I," says Mowry.

"It makes me feel like I've done something to help somebody out and I would do it again," explains Kiser.
