HARRISON TWP, Ohio (WDTN) - A 47-year-old man is dead after a morning fire goes undetected.
The Harrison Township Fire Department was called to 2828 Coronette Ave., around 5:20, on a fully engulfed detached garage fire.
Crews arrived and quickly extinguished flames and soon learned a man had been staying in the building.
Firefighters entered the burned building and found the remains of the man staying inside.
No identity has been released, the remains were sent to the Montgomery County Coroner's office for an autopsy.
Officials believe a propane heater is the cause and say that smoke detectors could have prevented the fatality.
The nearby home suffered minor damage. The garage is a complete loss.
The Purple Passion 5K run/walk was held at Shawnee Park Saturday afternoon.
