Local couple's granddaughter killed in Connecticut

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Dayton couple is mourning the loss of their granddaughter killed in the Connecticut school shooting.

A message posted on St. Henry Catholic Church's website announced that Friday's school shooting hit home.

'We are deeply saddened by the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut on December 12, 2012. We are especially saddened as we have discovered this has hit our parish community directly.   The granddaughter of parishioners Bill and Joyce Wirtz was one of the victims."

The website now has a special prayer for the victims.

The Knights of Columbus, which Bill was a part of, are also asking people to remember the Wirtz's in their prayers.

The church's announcement came on the heels of the release of the identities of all 20 children and six adults who were killed in Friday's violence.

Information from an online people search conducted by 2 NEWS points to 6-year old Allison Wyatt as the Wirtz's granddaughter killed in the tragedy.

One the website Legacy.com more than 1,000 people have left condolences for Allison.
