Huber Heights approves music center construction

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) - The City of Huber Heights will soon let the music play.

The city council approved a multi-million dollar music center at its meeting Thursday evening.

The $18-million, open air music pavilion will be built on Executive Boulevard across from the Meijer store.

At past meetings, residents voiced concerns about the noise and increased traffic the project could bring.

It was a another packed house for Thursday's vote.

City leaders say approving the music center allows them to move forward with the development of The Heights, a shopping complex planned for the same location.

"This pushes forward, creates a lot of financial impact, a lot of dollars to the community, jobs, entertainment venue, this is real exciting for Huber Heights," said Scott Falkowski, Huber Heights Assistant City Manager.

A recent study found the music center could bring a billion dollars in revenue to the city over 30 years.

Officials tell us construction is slated to begin early this summer with concerts beginning about a year later.
