KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - Kettering Medical Center showed off its newest cancer-fighting medical breakthrough Monday.
The Gamma Knife was given to the hospital at no cost by its designer, Elekta AB of Sweden. This is a savings to Kettering of more than $150,000.
The Gamma Knife is not a knife, but a machine that directs precisely focused beams of radiation at the affected area in the brain without harming healthy tissue. It provides the most precise brain treatment in the world.
