Kettering cop on leave after assault conviction

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) - A Kettering Police officer is the subject of an internal review after he pleaded no contest to an assault charge in Miamisburg Municipal Court.

According to court documents obtained by 2 NEWS, Douglas Stewart was charged with first degree misdemeanor assault following an altercation with another man on Dec. 15 in Miamisburg. He is due back in court on Feb. 21 for sentencing.

Kettering Police public information officer Ron Roberts tells 2 NEWS that Stewart is at the center of a professional standards investigation following the incident.
