WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) - There has been another milestone for the major construction project taking place at Exit 47 where I-75 meets Central Avenue and Dixie Drive in West Carrollton.

Drivers are now able to continue onto a newly-finished southbound Dixie Drive after passing through the ramp intersection. It alleviates the need for drivers to cross onto the northbound side. Many drivers had called that path dangerous.

"Especially at night or if you haven't been there before; scare you to death. And I can't believe that they haven't had a lot of accidents," said Bob Morissey of Washington Township.

The construction headache is nearly over. The Ohio Department of Transportation expects the project to be complete in October.

The modernization of Exit 47 began in February 2011 and is expected to carry a total price tag of $26.4 million.
