MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) - A child is in state custody following a bizarre incident along Interstate 75 Tuesday.

The Ohio State Patrol reports troopers spotted Titania Smith, 40, of Detroit, on the side of the roadway along I-75 near SR 725. Troopers say they stopped to help her out, but she took off.

Smith led officers on a short pursuit. Troopers say she was not speeding but was driving recklessly in between lanes. She finally stopped, about 10 miles down the road, on the ramp to SR 122 in Middletown.

Once the woman stopped, troopers discovered a small child was also in the vehicle. The child is being cared for by children’s services and Smith was taken for evaluation.
