MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - Hundreds of shoppers scrambled for safety Friday as strong winds damaged a structural wall.

“We were scared to death, I am still shaking right now,” one shopper said about an hour after the temporary wall in front of Dick’s Sporting Goods collapsed.

“There was sheet rock dust and a noise and dust flying everywhere…wind blowing and we just grabbed the kids and ran,” Cathy Shekleton said as she described the ordeal.

The wind entered the mall through an open wall area where construction workers were renovating for the new Dick’s location.

Fortunately, no one was reported to be injured as a result of the collapse.

The mall was closed Friday afternoon. Officials say they will evaluate when to reopen.
