MIAMI TOWNSHIP (WDTN) - A burglar got away Thursday morning after being caught in the act.

The homeowner at 2731 Latonia Ave. in Miami Twp. arrived at his home to find a stranger in his house, according officers at the scene.

They said the suspect then threatened the homeowner with a screwdriver before driving away in the homeowner's car.

A neighbor told 2 NEWS that even though he has an alarm system in his house, burglaries are not a problem on the street - a sentiment echoed by Miami Twp. Police Sgt. Jay Phares who said the incident is "totally out of character for this community."

Police are still investigating and searching for the suspect.
